Foxx and Otter's Ferret Rescue

Foxx and Otter started a ferret rescue after seeing the mistreatment of the animals in commercial pet stores, we adopted Morpheus as a small baby as an Easter adoption, then decided a few days later after doing more research into them we decided to get him a cage partner, Anubis, who was extremely underweight, being bullied by the bigger ferrets. We took him to an emergency vet and they informed us that if we did not bring him in he would of passed away in a few days, hence his name Anubis.

Hello all! We wanted to take a moment of your time to give you a little bit of information about our ferret rescue and proper care of your very own catsnakes!

After that incident we swore off going to big named pet stores due to how ill-informed they are. They suggest feeding Marshalls ferret food as that is the Ferret Farm they all come from, and is incredibly bad for them, they even have dyes in their food to tell if you were feeding them that if they pass away they can tell for "Warranty Reasons" Fun fact anything with the word "Ferret" on it is usually bad for them. They are supposed to be on a Grain Free High Protein Diet, Raw animals (Think feeding snakes) is the best for them as that is what they eat in the wild and will defer from issues such as Insolinoma and Adreanal Disease which is prevalant in ferrets not being fed the correct diet, which leads to costly implants, steroids, and even keeping their sugar above the crashing limit

We currently have 8 adorable babies who deserve all the love, but we unfortunately have lost some on the way due to the people who did not research the correct care protocols and have developed those issues above. They are the reasons we continue to bring in any and all ferrets who need help in the immediate area in GA, we were filed under the state as a ferret rescue and did recieve some form of assistance, but after COVID-19 , we stopped allowing any and all to come into the residence to see them, therefore lost all funding. We are blessed to both have jobs that pay well for the area, I personally however had to quit the job I was working at the time to pursue a stay at home job to keep an eye on the ones with Insolinoma, to ensure that their sugars don't crash and go into a seizure. We currently have one, Aries who has developed the disorder, and the oldest in the "Business" which is what they call a group of ferrets. And his personal bills each month extend 4 digits on a good month.

I would like to share some feeding charts and care links with everyone so maybe we can avoid anyone else the heartache of not knowing whats going on with these beautiful creatures, as they are now becoming more popular via social media

Ferret Cages

https://www.ferretnation.org/

The general rule of thumb is one of the double nation cages is for 3 ferrets, anymore than that you will need to order a second one and put them together. They are MINIMALLY supposed to be out for 6 hours at a time
